Knowle Pit Meadow -August outdoors painting

Late summer and an unique opportunity to savour its colours and textures over acres of land managed as a wildlife sanctuary and market garden by Sarah Bernsen. You will remember she came to talk to us about her Artwork earlier this year.

Sadly dispite almost perfect warm, still conditions the event was poorly attended- perhaps because of forecasts of extreme heat which did not materialise? However, those who did go ,spent time exploring the embryonic lake area, woodland walk, wildflower meadows, enjoying countryside views ,and eating homemade cake with our coffee!

Pictured is the most charming compost loo, and Sarah’s studio. As Sarah showed us around, describing her ambitious plans- we were accompanied at all times by 4 of the friendliest of dogs who must be living the “best life “in such an environment.

I was greatly inspired by the wild beauty of sun baked grasses, and seedheads, which towered over me as I drew from a lounger -accompanied by my new best friend! Here I was down among the hovering butterflies ,whilst a flock of greenfinches swooped to feed on thistle heads, and listening to the sound of crickets.

Many thanks go to Sarah for inviting us.

There is still a chance for you to visit ,as she is taking part in Somerset Arts Weeks -Open Studios in September.
