Last night we welcomed Artist Karen Huwen to the first of our evening meetings of the year. She entertained us by demonstrating a vibrant floral painting using Pebeo acrylic paints decanted into small lidded pots which can be held in the hand. She used them direct from the pot onto the canvas -no mixing. No shrinking violet this picture, the colours were bright, one was called neon! Karen painted onto mixed media paper, working from the imagination with minimal drawing. She advocated “trust the process, let it happen and have fun! “- Great advice for the New Year. She also introduced us to “Precision needle tip ,bottle applicators” which she had filled with diluted paint, that allowed for “drawing” in fine lines over the base colours. An inspiring start to the year!
