Joanna Cobb gave a fascinating talk on Wednesday evening illustrating the many examples of flowers and plants in art. Her romp through history started with the Romans and brought us right up to date, showing us frescoes, mosaics, paintings, illuminated manuscripts, sculptures, embroidery and photographs! Her lecture included a handout for us all to take away, giving a record of poetry, quotations from letters, bibliography, digital resources and, perhaps best of all, a list of places to visit so we can see these works of art for ourselves.
