Members were asked to provide subject matter for this demonstration by Matthew rather than him painting from a photo or printed reference!  It was decided on a landscape on Dartmoor, in autumn just after dawn with the clouds, trees and rocks and maybe some ponies!   As the painting progressed, Matthew sometimes went off script and used his own memories of Dartmoor!
Different techniques were used, in particular the use of charcoal and painting over the charcoal with acrylics.  
The final result at the end of the evening (the painting to be finished back in the studio) was a wonderful mix of rich autumnal colours of a lovely landscape.
