Paul Oakley Workshop ;November 2026

Following a very interesting demonstration and requests from members, Paul has agreed to do a workshop for us on the 27th Nov, from 10.00 – 3.00 at the Parish Rooms, Somerton.
 
Paul’s workshop is designed to introduce artists to using oil paint, as well as for artists who already use this medium and who would like some guidance on the technique.  
The morning will be dedicated to painting a still life; looking at methods of applying oil paint to build up a picture from a coloured beginning.  
After lunch, we will be developing these skills with a landscape painting, looking particularly at how to use thin paint in some areas and build up paint with dramatic mark making in others.
 
The workshop is aimed at beginners and artists wishing to develop their skills in oils, so enthusiasm is more important than experience.
 
If you wish to try this medium, Paul is happy to provide all the materials needed and this is included in the total price.
All you  have to do is bring yourself along with a cover for the table and your lunch.  Tea and coffee will be provided.
