Penny Elfick

We all enjoyed our May evening meeting with the inspirational artist Penny Elfick. She began with a slide show describing the development of her work from figurative beginnings to current work of pure abstraction which exploring colour relationships. She then encouraged us to draw from life looking only at the subject with our paper covered from view. It not only concentrated the mind on our subject, and tested our hand eye co ordination ,but painlessly delivered an abstracted drawing ready to be developed in any way we liked. Altogether a thought provoking and challenging evening.

Penny has a new exhibition ‘Interpretations’ which opened at Wells Museum earlier this week. Penny is showing new paintings and prints alongside artist Susan Gradwell.

The show runs until 20th May and is open to the public Wednesday-Saturday 10-4pm.
