On Wednesday 25 May SGA members gathered in the Somerton Parish Rooms to spend a day together painting and drawing.  Most members followed Mandy McAllen’s great workshop on negative drawing.  We all tried to liven up the right side of our brain and draw the negative spaces around objects, rather than the objects themselves.  We started off with leaves and some then turned these into a painting, others chose to empty their pockets and draw the spaces around keys, wallets, combs etc!  Mandy assured us that this would improve our observational skills and teach us to really look at what we are drawing – and many of us are determined to practise this method!  Other members continued with their own projects and we all enjoyed the day with lots of chat over lunch and endless mugs of tea and coffee with biscuits!
